As an established stage and screen actor, Cassie Silva has made a name for herself through earnest dedication, skill and focus. She recently returned to Los Angeles launching the US the First National Tour of Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical. playing the principle role of Mrs.Wormwood. Previous to that, she was an understudy to Mrs. Wormwood and an ensemble member of Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical on Broadway, Time magazine’s #1 “Show of the Year.”
Cassie Silva has been an actor her entire life. She was born and raised in Woodland Hills, California, where she poured her endless reserves of energy into the acting, dancing and singing. At the age of 7, Cassie booked two national Jell-O advertisements acting along side mega-star Bill Cosby. At 9 she landed a role in her first feature film, Happy Texas, starring William H. Macy and Steven Zahn.
Through her teens, in addition to auditioning, working on pilots, and making television appearances, Cassie juggled the demands of high school with her acting, dance and voice training. At 15, she moved to Colorado to train at the Shadowlight Theater (FKA Rock Mountain School of Dance & Performing Arts Center), under the direction of Lynne Waggoner-Patton. This decision paid quick dividends as she soon landed the role of Brenda, the Corny Collins Council Member, in the feature film Hairspray starring John Travolta, and Queen Latifa. Soon after her role in Hairspray, Cassie appeared in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, and the television series Dexter and Valentine.
While working on television and film, Cassie’s stage acting was also building momentum and her professional theatre career took off. She won dynamic lead roles in several stage productions in Los Angeles. Among them, 7 Brides, 42nd Street, Meet Me in St. Louis, White Christmas, Spelling Bee, A Chorus Line. For her work as Judy Haynes, in White Christmas, she received a Stage Scene LA Award for Best Performance by a Lead Actress/Musical. For their work in the West Coast premiere of Spelling Bee, Cassie’s ensemble was Ovation nominated for Best Ensemble Cast and won the Stage Scene LA Award for Best Performance by an Ensemble Cast in a musical. In 2010 Cassie moved to New York City to join the ensemble cast of Rock of Ages, the 27th longest running musical in Broadway history, as Young Groupie, Understudying the roles of Sherrie Christian & Regina Koontz. Most Recently, she was nominated by Broadway World for Best Lead Female in a Musical (Touring Production) for the iconic Roald Dahl character, Mrs.Wormwood.
Cassie is grateful to have found success as an actress, and overjoyed to have performed for so many audiences. Bringing her attention back to television and film acting, she joined The Manhattan Film Institute 2014 roster, creating short films under the direction of Bob Krakower, Wendy Makenna & Tony Spiradakis. Upon arriving in LA after launching Matilda the Musical 1st National tour in late 2016, she stepped into Todrick Hall’s visual album cast of “Straight Outta Oz”, with Nicole Scherzinger. Shortly thereafter, she voiced Abigail Williams in DreamWorksTV’s Sung History, “Mean Girls of Salem.” Along with producing her own content, she is enjoying creative opportunities on Film & TV sets in 2017.
